Job Description: Waste Management Specialist
Position Overview:
The Waste Management Specialist will play a vital role in developing and implementing waste management strategies to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of waste management practices, environmental regulations, and sustainability principles. The Waste Management Specialist will work closely with various stakeholders to assess waste generation, develop effective waste management plans, and monitor waste disposal activities.
Responsibilities:

2. Develop and implement waste management plans, strategies, and procedures to ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.

4. Conduct waste audits and inspections to identify potential environmental risks and develop appropriate mitigation measures.
5. Provide guidance and training to employees on waste management practices, including segregation, labeling, and safe handling procedures.
6. Monitor waste disposal activities, including landfill operations, waste treatment processes, and recycling initiatives, to ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
7. Stay up-to-date with emerging waste management technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes to recommend innovative solutions and improve waste management processes.
8. Prepare reports and documentation on waste management activities, including waste generation rates, recycling rates, and environmental compliance.
9. Collaborate with external agencies, vendors, and contractors to manage waste disposal contracts, evaluate performance, and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
10. Conduct environmental impact assessments related to waste management activities and propose appropriate measures to minimize negative effects.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Waste Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in waste management, preferably in the agricultural or environmental sector.
3. Strong knowledge of waste management regulations, including hazardous waste handling and disposal requirements.
4. Proficient in conducting waste audits, waste characterization studies, and environmental impact assessments.
5. Familiarity with waste management technologies, recycling practices, and sustainable waste management principles.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative waste management strategies.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
